How can AI change the way you look at things
How can AI in future can change the way you look at things
The fact that AI has already arrived, deep into every piece of technology we use is inevitable. We have come a long way from looking at AI as a replacement for humans to considering as a perfect support for the human beings in various jobs. But there are some limitations that are inherent and there are some limitations that we have voluntarily imparted as well. So if you ask, if a “robot can write a symphony” or create art, for now the answer is a weak “no”. Creative robots are currently not widely established but the ground work is already happening in several parts of the world and there are several tech giants trying their hands on inculcating creativity in robots.
That being said, how has AI changed our lives? Starting from the way we see things to the way we search for things on the internet, to the way we shop, the way we work and the way we live on the whole have all have had fine changes thanks to the penetration of Artificial Intelligence and associated technologies.
Now everyone has a personal assistant
We have virtual assistants on our smartphone which are getting better, and more human like day after day. In fact these are the forms of AI that have the most penetrative effect on the day to day lives. These allow hands free use of the smartphone and can help perform some of the most tedious tasks in moments. Years ago these assistants were able to perform simple functions like placing a call or setting an alarm or creating a schedule. But now they have evolved and they have even revolutionized the way we search for things on the internet and the way we use our smartphones. Siri is a perfect example of an evolved virtual assistant that can provide human like witty responses even to the non-standard questions with absolute ease.
Look at datasets clearly to make better predictions
The main benefit of AI is the improvement in the accuracy of prediction. Prediction helps customers use the large amount of data available at hand and to break them down into smaller, more practical chunks of data that are actually useful. Pattern recognition, face recognition in particular is a perfect example. It helps identify patterns in the dataset that appears random. This pattern is how we are able to make better predictions. And this enhanced prediction ability comes in handy in several areas like weather monitoring and prediction of disasters, identifying criminals by matching faces from data gathered in various places, watching the stock market and taking better decisions in trading and lots more.
Look at customer behavior clearly to improve sales
When it comes to improving the sales understanding customer shopping behavior is a crucial step. In brick and mortar stores the sales assistants would be able to actually see what products the customers are looking at, how much time they spend at each product and this would help them understand what the customer is actually looking for and thus assist them appropriately to make a sale happen. But without AI this would be nearly impossible in ecommerce. Businesses can now look at the specific patterns in the shopping behavior of individual customers without having the need for appointing shopping assistants for each customer. The AI-powered system would be able to continuously gather data and make better suggestions of products for customers. This can also significantly reduce the chances of cart abandonment. Customers can also be voluntarily pushed down the sales funnel by offering them a personalized shopping experience with the most suitable deals. Chatbots and AI in general are known to be the biggest blessings in improving sales.
Look at medical data better to provide timely and more appropriate medical assistance
Telemedicine is already a widespread application of technology in healthcare. It has remarkably helped in reducing the number of deaths that occur due to delayed healthcare services. By being able to better understand the medical data and have access to relevant data at all times healthcare providers are now able to provide quicker and more accurate diagnosis of even the most complicated health conditions and thus help in improving the efficiency of treatment. Predictive genomics is a field that has a bright potential and it is something that has now contributed a great deal to the modern medicine. formulation of drugs that actually work, predicting the way a particular individual would react to a drug and other genetic research has all become so much simpler now thanks to artificial intelligence. It has helped widen the perspective in the field of medicine and incorporating machine learning and predictive analytics in healthcare goes a long way in improving the overall quality of healthcare services provided.
Look at the internet activity better
Internet activity can be monitored with ease with the help of AI systems. With their reliance on redundancy and their ability to spot even the tiniest anomalies AI systems would be able to spot vulnerabilities in systems and help strengthen security measures. This would be a great way to avert cyberattacks and improve cybersecurity. The same
Look at financial transactions to identify frauds
AI systems can help observe financial transactions made with credit cards etc. Any change in the normal behavior can immediately be taken as a possible warning and this can send an alert to the user and help identify frauds easily. But there is a thin line between helping customers and causing inconvenience with too many false alarms. Minor anomalies in the financial transactions might not indicate fraudulent behavior. So adding the power of machine learning to learn from each transaction, learning from mistakes and then tuning the predictions in the future would make the system a more robust solution.
In general there has been a major paradigm shift ever since Artificial Inteligence has been widely accepted. Machines would assist human beings better and human beings would assist machines get better and this cycle would only keep AI expanding.
With all the excitement and hype about AI that’s “just around the corner”—self- driving cars, instant machine translation, etc.—it can be difficult to see how AI is affecting the lives of regular people from moment to moment. What are examples of artificial intelligence that you’re already using—right now?
